Announces Commissioning of Finnholm HPP in Finland

Benesov, Czech Republic – 11 January 2010 - Mavel, a.s. announced the successful commissioning of the Finnholm hydroelectric power plant. Mavel had been awarded a contract by Vaasa Engineering Oy of Finland to supply one double regulated Kaplan bulb turbine to the Finnholm site, on the Ähtävänjoki River in the Western part of middle Finland and owned by Oy Herrfors Ab. Mavel provided the steel intake and draft tube, hydraulic unit, lubricating and cooling system and the turbine. This Mavel KA1800K4 turbine has runner diameter of 1800 mm and four runner blades. Finnholm HPP has net head of 5.35 meters and flow of 18.5 cms.

The contract was awarded in September 2008, work began in October 2008 and commissioning was in November 2009. The installed power is 862 kW.
