Mavel, a.s. Signs Contract to Deliver Two Horizontal Francis Turbines to the Bugoye Plant in Uganda.

Benesov, Czech Republic  – 13 August 2008 – Mavel, a.s. announced that  it  has signed a contract with TRONDER POWER LIMITED from Uganda to supply turbines and related technology for the new Bugoye hydroelectric power plant in Uganda.

The Power and Renewable Energy Division of NORPLAN AS, is the consultant for the project and will manage the contracts with Mavel for the turbines/generator portion, ABB Norway for the electrical balance of plant and Noremco for the civil works.

The Bugoye site which is 200 kilometers west of Kampala is adjacent to the border of the Democratic Republic of Congo.  The nominal head is 156 meters and the flow is five cubic meters per unit.  The installed power of each turbine/generator unit is 7 MW for total plant installed power of 14 MW.

Specifically, Mavel will supply two horizontal Francis turbines Type FSK1350, generators, bifurication, inlet valves and hydraulics. 

Commissioning is expected in late 2009.
