Mavel, a.s. Awarded Contract For The Kayalik Hydroelectric Power Plant

Benesov, Czech Republic – 27 March 2008- Mavel, a.s. announced that it was awarded a contract for turbines and related technology for the Kayalik hydroelectric power plant ("Kayalik HPP") located in the Erzurum Region of Turkey. The contract was signed in June 2007 with the project owner Akua Enerji Uretim A.S.

The Kayalik HPP site has net head of 65 meters and total flow of 10.2 cubic meters per second. Mavel is supplying two horizontal Francis turbines - each with runner diameter of 800 mm. Mavel's scope also includes generators, control system, lubricating, cooling and hydraulic units.

Commissioning is expected for November 2008. Each turbine generator unit will have installed power of 3 megawatts for total installed plant capacity of 6 megawatts.
