Czech Republic – 21 March 2008- Mavel, a.s. announced the commissioning of two small hydro plants in Finland utilizing Mavel turbines. Mavel was initially contracted for the supply on 18 October 2006 by Vaasa Engineering Ltd. Both projects - the Alasorsakoski and Ylasorsakoski hydro-electric power plants - were rehabilitations of existing plants and both are owned by the company Savon Voima Oy.
Mavel supplied a vertical Kaplan turbine
with runner diameter of 1290 mm and five runner blades, generator
and hydraulic unit for the Alasorsakoski rehabilitation project.
The site has head of 10.4 meters, flow of 8 cubic meters
per second and now has installed power of 730 kW.
For the
Ylasorsakoski rehabilitation project, Mavel supplied a
vertical Kaplan turbine, with 1290 mm runner diameter and
four runner blades, generator and hydraulic unit. This site
has head of 7.55 meters and flow of 8 cubic meters per second
and installed power of 540 kW.
Both projects were commissioned
in October 2007, less than eleven months from contract
signing.
