Mavel a.s. Signs Contract to Supply Turbines for 3.5 MW Nyagak Project in Uganda

Benesov, Czech Republic – 25 November 2006 - Mavel, a.s. announced that it signed a contract to supply two turbines for the 3.5 MW Nyagak hydro electric power project in Uganda.

Last August, The West Nile Rural Electrification Company (WENRECo) announced that it began construction on the $8.5 million project which includes the construction of a 1-kilometer 33-kilovolt transmission line to serve Nebbi, Arua and Koboko. WENRECo is owned by Industrial Promotion Services (Kenya) Ltd. (IPS), an affiliate of the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development. The Nyagak project is a joint initiative of the Uganda government and WENRECo.

Mavel is subcontracted for its supply with Skodaexport, A.S., the EPC contractor. Mavel will supply two Francis Horizontal Turbines for the new plant located on the Nyagak River in Uganda's West Nile Region. The commissioning of the plant is scheduled for December 2007.
