Mavel a.s. Micro Turbine Lights Up Historic Togetsukyo Bridge in Kyoto

Prague, Czech Republic – 20 April 2006 - Mavel, a.s. announced that one its MT5 Turbines was installed adjacent to the historic Togetsukyo Bridge in Kyoto, Japan. The installation site has head of 1.34 meters and flow of 0.53 cubic meters per second. The installed power is 4.3 kW, enough to illuminate the historic bridge and the nearby hillside.

The City of Kyoto decided to install a turbine at the bridge as a symbol of "Green Energy for Kyoto". A number of dignitaries including Mr. Yorikane Masumoto, Mayor of the City of Kyoto, and Mr. Zebrakovsky, the Czech Ambassador to Japan, attended the opening ceremony on December 9, 2005.

The MT5 Turbine is one of three turbines in Mavel's MT line of micro siphon turbines. The turbine sets are sold as complete packages and can be installed on existing weirs. This Kyoto project was executed by Mavel's Japan representative Himawari N.E. which specializes in the construction of hydro plants.
