Prague , Czech Republic – 20 April 2006 - Mavel, a.s. announced that it has completed the successful installation and final testing of three MT10 Siphon Turbines in Poland. The MT10 Turbine is a new addition to Mavel’s MT line of easy to install micro turbine sets. The MT10 Turbine can be installed on existing weirs or gates with little to no civil excavation. Further, these micro turbines do not need a powerhouse. The units are sold as a complete package with turbine, generator, inlet, draft tube and electric and control systems. The total price for the entire package ranges from $15,000 to $200,000.

The three MT 10 Turbines were installed at the Olawa hydro-electric power plant on the Odra River in Southern Poland near Wroclaw. The vertical turbines with runner diameter of one meter were installed on an existing weir. The site has head of 3.5 meters and each turbine has power of 100 kW for a total of 300 kW installed capacity. The new turbines are in addition to an existing Francis turbine which generates just under 200 kW.

Mavel’s new MT10 Turbine is suitable for installation using heads between two and five meters and flow between two and five cubic meters per second. At the upper ranges, one turbine can produce up to 180 kW. As is the case with the Olawa project, multiple turbines can be used at one site.
