Prague , Czech Republic - 20 June 2005 - Mavel, a.s.
announced the successful commissioning in May 2006 of the Zawada
hydro electric plant on the Odra River in Southern Poland. The
plant is owned by HCS Wroclaw, Spolka z.o.o.
The Zawada plant utilizes two horizontal Kaplan
turbines with runner diameters of 3000 mm and has installed
power of 1.5 MW. The flow is 43 cubic meters per second and
the head ranges from 1.7 to 2.5 meters.
Mavel is a Czech Republic-based manufacturing
and engineering company focusing on production of turbines for
hydro-electric power plants from 25 kW to 25+ MW. Over the past
ten years, the company and its subsidiary CKD TurboTechnics,
s.r.o. have installed over 280 turbines at more than 200 sites
around the world.
