Mavels Commissions One Project in Poland and Begins Production of Another - May 2005

Prague, Czech Republic – 20 May 2005 - Mavel, a.s. announced the successful commissioning late last year of the Krepna hydro electric power plant and the beginning of production on the Krapkowice power plant. Both plants are located on the Odra river in southern Poland and owned by Elektrownie Gornej Odry Spolka z.o.o.

The Krepna hydro electric plant was successfully commissioned in September 2004. The plant utilizes two horizontal Kaplan turbines with runner diameters of 2500 mm and has installed power of 1.26 MW. The flow is 31 cubic meters per second and the head ranges from 1.7 to 2.5 meters.

The Krapkowice hydro electric plant will use two of the same horizontal Kaplan turbines and is expected to have installed power of 1.26 MW. Commissioning is expected in mid-2006.
