Benesov, Czech Republic – 21 May 2003- Mavel a.s.,
a Czech engineering and manufacturing company for small hydroelectric
power plants, announced the successful commissioning of the
3.3 MW Kosciuszko hydro-electric power plant located on the
Wisla River near Krakow, Poland. The new plant was completed
at the end of April and has installed power of 3.3 MW using
a water flow 100 m3/s.
Mavel was contracted by Polish firm Fundacja – Zaklad
Wychowawczy im. Ks. Siemaszki to supply a complete ‚water
to wire‘ solution. The technological solution included
three 2240 mm runner diameter horizontal Kaplan turbines with
gear box drives and vertical synchronous generator.
The turbines were produced at Mavel’s headquarter’s
facility in Benesov, Czech Republic. Each turbine has the following
parameters:
- maximum water flow: 33,30 M3s-1
- head 2,3 ~ 4,5 m
- maximum power output: 1120 kW
- runner diameter: 2240 mm
- number of runner blades: 3
- number of wicket gates: 16
- turbine speed: 175 rpm
In addition, Mavel provided the three generators, hydraulic
governors, a hydraulic gate system and cleaning machine.
Mavel a.s. provides engineering and technology, including Kaplan,
Francis and Pelton turbines, for hydroelectric power plants
from 2 kW to 20 MW. The company has two production facilities
